coldest snap in the north for ten years according to the local pro crabber with water temps as low as 21oC. He was averaging 1 crab per day from 20 pots! Apparently the previous week was good and the weather was warming up when we left on Saturday morning - typical! We think we saw a Barra but it was just a flash. We did manage a few smallish jacks, cod and trevally and a significant flathead along with a 4 foot shovelnose, though. Like to go back and have a look when its a bit warmer.
I've also discovered that Lucinda is the biting midge capital of the world.
