Got an unexpected leave pass on Saturday, as Kerry was working that morning, so went to Col Wiley park for a flick during business hours. there is now a rough stone ramp although not positioned vey well as you have to reverse across the footpath at a slight horizontal angle. water was a bit brown so I headed upstream hoping for clearer water. I persisted with the fly rod for about an hour without success, then switched to a small diving shad type lure Finally got a small bass from edge casting, then headed up to an area where there was a current flow along the bank. Got another two small fish casting right into pockets out of the flow. That was about it, so another pleasant morning on the water but not a lot of action. There was one other boat but they had done about the same. Rob

Hey Rob, Did you fish the same spots you took me to last time I was up there? At least you got more fish than Leigh! Cheers Graeme

Hi Graeme, yeah I went the same direction this time, but not past the feral's bridge. I savour that possibility of outfishing Leigh! The ramp information was for the benfit of those with deeper pockets and larger boats, its probably too hard for you to launch there now, leave it for the locals!

You all will be happy to know that I redeemed myself this afternoon...took the yak out for an updated speed test after trying on a new prop! Made no difference to speed, but in 20mins of fishing I did manage a Bream and a very small Bass. My form slump is over! _________________

G'day Riverman That's a great spot there at Col Wiley park. The last time I fished it was with Col. We had to duck under the old wooden bridge pulling ourselves along on the underside of the bridge while trying to stay in his little tinny. Does it get much of a flogging since it has been opened up a bit? Next time I come up for a visit I will have to try to get back there.

Hi Craig, I can also remember some top trips on that section of the river...The one I remember most, mainly because of the good laughter factor right at the start was when I fished with Chris Estreich in his canoe. We launched and headed under the bridge. The water level was up a bit so it was a little tight getting under. But we made it and as soon as I could I stood up to have a stretch. So I stood up to have a stretch...just as a car was driving over the bridge. The driver saw me appear from nowhere and look on his face was absolute priceless. He must of thought I was walking on water or something. Still brings a smile to my face thinking about it. Off memory the fishing was pretty good that day too. I would say that it is a bit busier there now, as you tend to read a lot more threads about it on different fishing forums around the place. But considering how quickly and how fast the sport of Bass fishing has grown over the last few years it doesnt suprise me. _________________

yeah, the fishing is noticeably better further upstream, but the fish do seem to move around a bit, or perhaps they are more active some days. I still average a couple of fish every trip in the easily accessible bits
