PostSubject: Clear Island Waters.   Sun Aug 30, 2009 2:28 pm

Jaime and I hit Clear Island Waters this morning...An early start seen us on the water by 6am and after coming through the lock we discovered we werent the only ones with an early start in mind. There were a few boats on the water so we went looking for quieter water. We ducked up into an area where I doubt many people would find themselves, and managed a few hits, a few rats and I scored the first fish of the season off the top...only a rat (high 20s')...but still on the surface!

We fished the entire area, but things were slow...so a move was in order. Checked out the deeper water in the main basin area and came up with nothing, so it was up the creek with an outboard we went! A few more rats caught in the shallow water, but once again it was the bridge that produced. The fish of the day coming in at 45cm on a TN50. Put up a great find on 6lb line and a 1-2 kilo rod. I havent seen that much drag pulled since the Mardi Gra.

didnt have much of a problem finding the fish...just getting them to chew proved to be the hard part. Our next trip may well be in the Island bay to see if the fish have moved back in, and woken up yet. Plus there is always the chance of a few really nice bream.

Leigh.
