Hello, i'm new to this site.

I live very near Robina lakes/clear island water, I im very keen to go catch some bass there. Could anyone please give me some hints on how to catch bass there. I have a small tinnie with an minn kota on it, so I can get far up the system.

Any usual Bass catching methods will work in Robina. Depending on the area you are fishing will dictate what style you use though. In the main basin area, they will hang in the deeper water, so trolling or working lipless cranks, plastics, spinnerbaits deeper in the water colum is the go here. The edges could also be worth a shot.

Around the shallower places, work the edges and the weed beds (which there are plenty over the summer months). For a while there suspending minnows were working a treat. Plastics and shallow divers over the weed beds should draw their attention as well. Try everything and anything as they may want something different one day. I have had some cracker sessions there, but I have had a few donuts as well.

Make sure your gear is up to it though, as some of the bycatch will include 40cm+ Bream. These things have no fear and pull like freight trains. Thats why I like keeping my lure selection on the smaller side of things...more chance of a Bream encounter to liven things up a little. Since winter is just around the corner, the weed should die off and the Bass will be thinking about schooling up getting ready to spawn (even though they cant in there). They will get fat as horses and should be some good fishing. I know I will spending a few winter mornings down there in my yak.

Leigh.
