PostSubject: my local...flood bound   Wed Jan 02, 2008 3:23 pm

Went for a drive today to check out some new launching spots for the Yaks...I was greeted by a river that means business!

Normality at the weir

FLOOD-BOUND

One of my launching spots (Roy, you should know this one)

FLOOD-BOUND

The water was lapping the bottom of the bridge...looks like I wont be paddling again for anytime soon. Least it gives the river a good flush, and the fish a great chance to move upstream.

Updated pics.

This is the weir when the river was at its highest. The weir itself was about 3mtrs underwater. Giving the bass a great chance to get up river.

This is the bridge at Cedar Creek, the original pics show the water just lapping the bridge...here it is about 3-4mtrs under

Cant wait till the river settles down again...You up for another paddle sometime soon Roy?

Piece of cake - next time I'll polish and wax the hull of the canoe and treat it with a water repellent spray so there's no drag.

I still believe we would of got a higher speed....if we didnt hit that tree...the tree that made us tip and fill the canoe with water. That extra weight slowed us down majorly!
