G'day Fellas,

I am a member of the Hastings Bream and Bass Club in Port Macquarie.

Unfortunately it seems the two entry forms for the Kempsey Bass Catch which were put aside for me have been misplaced and I am not too hopeful that I will get two copies down here.

I was hoping the ABA might have two forms spare which I could use. I was intending to have Beth Wiley fish out of my boat during the event.

If there are not any spare forms could someone point me to a contact in Bass Kempsey ...

OK

here's the wash-up from the weekend. I've had phone calls from

competitors thanking us for the weekend and saying what a great time

they had so we must have got it pretty well right. There will be a short story and pics in this Friday's Tweed Daily News if you are interested.

We had 63 registered competitors of whom only 57 fished and returned catch cards. They caught a total of 760 bass (nearly double the number of the last few years, although the average size was ...

Over the last couple of months I have been doing a lot of Google Earthin' and driving around checking out new creeks and rivers. There are a lot of spots that I want to hit as soon as life settles back to normal after bubs arrival.

Two stretches in particular I am simply drooling at the prospect of throwing a lure...the only downside is that both of them require at least a 4km paddle just to get to the stretches in question, because thats how far away the nearest legal launching spot is.

Just read this on another website...food for thought maybe?!

During the filming of the AFC competition held on Cania Dam in Queensland, some of the competitors had a bit of a swim while others were casting lures from the bank. “Slick” Wright, being a professional abalone diver, swims like a dophin and while swimming about, surfaced to tell everyone how noisy their lures were under the water.

They did some experimenting with some Ecogear VT 55 lipless crankers to see how far away ...

Hopefully this one will work better then my last effort...although the theory was there, it just needed a little bit of tweaking...and a lot more holes.

Now all I need to do is wait till this fine weather we are having goes away (that was the polite way of saying it) and I will hit the water and hopefully find out if its any better.

Respooling

Hi Guys,

Some advice please.

I need to respool some reels for some upcoming trips. They are 2000 size spinning reels. I was going to put some mono backing on and top it with braid.

I did this at the start of this season, but did not have much success. Seemed to be getting constant birdsnests. The braid seemed to be getting looser all the time.

Do you do things like dunk the braid in hot water or stretch it between trees?

How do you do your own?

Cheers

G'day troops. Typing with two hands again!! SWEET! Got the bandages cut away and the stitches pulled yesterday. It will still be a few weeks until I can put any weight on the hand and paddle the yak, but it feels good to get that thing off my mit!

Leigh, you've done a great job on this site and bully board. Congrats, man.
